Hereafter, we will use the term "information" to mean nonpublic personal information as defined in this section.
An affiliate is a company we own or control, a company that owns or controls us, or a company that is owned or controlled by the same company that owns or controls us. Ownership does not mean complete ownership, but means owning enough to have control.
A nonaffiliated third party is a person we do not employ or a company that is not an affiliate of ours. This is also known as nonaffiliated third party, or simply, an "other party."

Network Security
Torrey Pines Bank has taken every precaution necessary to ensure information is transmitted safely and securely between you, our customer, and Bank personnel. The latest methods in Internet and electronic banking security systems are utilized by the Bank to increase and monitor the integrity and security of the system.
The security of the Bank's Internet and electronic banking applications are addressed at three levels. The first concern is the security of your information as it is sent from your PC to our web server. The second area concerns the security of the environment in which our web server and your information database reside. Finally, security measures are in place to prevent unauthorized users from attempting to log into our web site, and subsequently log into our Intranet (internal) server.
Data security between your browser and our web server is handled through a security protocol that provides for data encryption, server authentication, and message integrity for an Internet connection. In addition, this method provides a security "handshake" that is used to initiate the connection. This handshake results in the client and server agreeing on the level of security they will use and fulfills any authentication requirements for the connection. Currently our online banking application supports data encryption at the 128 bit level, and our customers will need to use a browser that supports this level of security.
Your requests for banking information are passed on from our web server to our Internet (internal) server. Our Internet server is monitored for activity 24 hours a day and is protected by a firewall, completely isolating our web server from your information maintained on our database.
The World Wide Web interface receives input and sends requests through a firewall over a dedicated private network to our Internet server. The World Wide Web interface is the only process capable of communicating through the firewall to our Internet server. Therefore, only your authenticated requests communicate with our Internet server.
Our Internet server is the only process able to send requests to the database, just as the World Wide Web interface is the only process capable of communicating with our Internet server. Thus, the outside world is removed from our customer database by two dedicated private networks.
A security analyzer constantly monitors login attempts and recognizes failures that could indicate a possible unauthorized attempt to log into an account. When such trends are observed, steps are taken to prevent that account from being used.
Security concerns have been addressed from every angle within the architecture of our Internet server. Implementation of the security protocol on our web server and your browser ensures authenticated data is received from you. Our Internet server creates a firewall that performs information requests over dedicated networks designed to handle specific functions. Placing all business logic and event logging within our Internet server creates a controlled environment that allows quick incorporation of Internet security technologies as they evolve. Finally, the security analyzer monitors login attempts in order to prevent unauthorized logins.
