Torrey Pines Bank Awards the Autism Tree Project Foundation as recipient of Base Hit Bonus
Uses corporate philanthropy as winning strategy to help raise awareness about cause
San Diego – July 6 Torrey Pines Bank named the Autism Tree Project Foundation as the latest recipient of the Base Hit Bonus. The Base Hit Bonus is a promotion in partnership with San Diego Padres first baseman, Adrian Gonzalez and XX Sports Radio. For every base hit that Adrian Gonzalez makes during the baseball season, Torrey Pines Bank makes a charitable donation to help support local charities.
The Autism Tree Project Foundation is a local grass roots foundation that has helped hundreds of families with autism by providing free developmental screenings & mentoring. Dayna Hoff, the founder of the Autism Tree Project Foundation, was moved by the news that Torrey Pines Bank awarded the foundation she organized with the funding. Dayna acknowledged "the value that the Foundation provides to the community is immeasurable. My son was diagnosed with Autism and with the support of the Base Hit Bonus the Autism Tree Project Foundation is able to continue to help children live more productively and help families, like mine, create brighter futures for our children."
On learning about the latest recipient Adrian Gonzalez said "I am pleased to be the representative for Torrey Pines Bank and the Base Hit Bonus. I am personally aware of this organization and believe in this cause with conviction. It is such a worthwhile organization; they involve the doctors, parents and researchers who are actively engaged in understanding this condition in hopes of finding a cure while supporting the children and families who are living with this neurological disorder."
"Many organizations are using professional sports figures to help build awareness for specific causes because people get so emotionally connected with their favorite professional athletes. If a high profile athlete endorses a cause the better the changes that their admirers will too" note Crystal Watkins, Vice President and Director of Marketing for Torrey Pines Bank.
Torrey Pines Bank President & CEO Gary Cady said that "the Base Hit Bonus keeps us connected to our community. We have had over 150 nominations filter through our website and we're learning every day about the services that are being provided to continue to help our community thrive."
During the month of May, Gonzalez successfully hit fifteen singles, seven doubles, one triple and five home runs for a total of $1,300 cash going to the Autism Tree Project Foundation.
